Terms of Use
By using the Yudum website and chat service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
1. The service and the provider
Yudum is a free, non-commercial chat community that has been running since 1998. There is no charge, and no payment is ever requested from you. You may use most of the site without an account; an account is needed to join the chat and the world, reserve a nickname, keep a profile, join groups and use private messaging. The service is provided at yudum.net; yudum.eu and yudum.name are also our domains and redirect there. With respect to content posted by users, Yudum acts as a hosting provider within the meaning of Turkish Law No. 5651.
2. Acceptable use
You may use the network for lawful purposes only. Harassment, threats, hate speech, spam, unsolicited advertising, distribution of malware, and the sharing of unlawful or infringing material are prohibited. The community rules set out the detail and form part of these terms — see Chat Rules.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything done through your account. Choose a password you do not use anywhere else. Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has access to it. Do not impersonate another person, and do not register a nickname in order to hold it away from someone else.
Age limit. You must be at least 18 to use the service. (why 18?) The date of birth you give when you sign up must be accurate; accounts found to belong to someone under 18 are suspended.
4. Content you post
You keep the rights to what you write. By posting it on Yudum you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display it as part of the service. You are responsible for what you post. Yudum does not monitor every message in advance; as a hosting provider, it removes illegal content once it becomes aware of it.
5. Reporting and removal of illegal content
You can report content that you believe is illegal or infringes your rights as described on our Report Content page, by writing to [email protected]. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Copyright notices and counter-notices follow the procedure described on the same page.
6. Moderation, reasons and appeals
Operators may warn, kick, ban or network-ban an account or address that breaks the rules, and may remove content. When your content is removed or your account is restricted, we tell you the reason where possible. If you believe the decision was wrong, you can appeal through our contact page or at [email protected]; your appeal is reviewed by someone other than the person who made the decision.
7. Connection records
As required by Turkish Law No. 5651 and its regulations, connection records (IP address, source port, nickname or account name, connection and disconnection time) are kept for at least one and at most two years. They are disclosed only under a court order or a lawful request from a competent authority. See our Privacy Policy for details.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the service running continuously but cannot guarantee it. Yudum may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service. The service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Yudum is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service, nor for content posted by users. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Ending use
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Turkish law, and the courts of Türkiye have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EEA or the UK, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
12. Language and severability
If the Turkish and English versions of these terms differ, the Turkish version prevails. If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always published on this page. We announce significant changes that affect your rights on the site at least 15 days before they take effect.
