Altan Aşık is an artist of Malatya origin, who was born in Ankara on 30 August 1943. He completed his primary education at a primary school in Balıkesir, and then continued his secondary education at Istanbul Haydarpaşa High School. Aşık, who was also interested in boxing in his youth, started to focus on theater during his high school years and performed on stage at the Experiment Stage, which he founded with his friends in Kadıköy in 1962.
During his university years, he took an active role in the Istanbul University Youth Theater, both directing and acting in plays such as "Beyond the Walls" (1965) and "Ayakta Durmak İstiiyorum". Aşık gained professional acting experience at Abdurrahman Palay Theater in 1963, and then worked in the team of Dost Actors, known as "Karınca Theatre", until 1966.
He made a name for himself by winning the European title in the inter-university competition in Zurich with the play "Big Otmarlar", which he directed at the IÜTB Youth Theater in 1968. During this period, she acted in different stages such as Ayfer Feray-Nisa Serezli Theatre, Pisi Pisi Kabare Theater and Üç Maymun Kabare Theatre.
After graduating from Istanbul University Faculty of Economics in 1970, he took part in the documentary "Mehmet Akif" prepared for TRT.
Altan Aşık, known to the masses with his character Doğu Eşrefoğlu in the television series "Kurtlar Vadisi" between 2003 and 2005, staged the play "Yeşil Papağan Limited" as the founding director of Yalova Municipality City Theater in 2006. In addition to acting, he also works actively in management and production fields.
