Bebe Neuwirth (real name Beatrice Neuwirth, born December 31, 1958) is an American actress, dancer and singer. Television audiences know her best as the cold and sharp-witted psychiatrist Lilith Sternin on the TV series Cheers and Frasier; On Broadway, he is a musical star who won two Tony Awards.
He was born in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in Princeton. His father was a mathematician and his mother was a painter. She started ballet lessons at a young age; Although she studied dance at Juilliard for a while, she left school after a year.
Stage and screen
He made his Broadway debut in 1980 in A Chorus Line. In 1986, she received her first Tony Award for best supporting actress in a musical for her role as Nickie in the revival of Sweet Charity. She won her second Tony for best actress in a musical, playing Velma Kelly in the mid-1990s remake of the musical Chicago. In 2010, she took on the role of Morticia Addams in the musical The Addams Family.
Her role as Lilith Sternin, which started as a guest on Cheers and became permanent, brought her two Emmy Awards for best supporting actress in a comedy series, in 1990 and 1991. The character later returned to the screen occasionally in Frasier. In the following years, she played prosecutor Tracey Kibre in Law & Order: Trial by Jury and Nadine Tolliver in Madam Secretary.
