Ümit Ömer Sevinç, known as "Ümit Usta", is a Turkish chef, culinary instructor and food consultant. He reached a wide audience by presenting cooking programs on television for many years.
He was born in Istanbul in 1952. He spent most of his professional life in the kitchen. He became known for his cooking programs broadcast on various television channels.
Training and consultancy
Sevinç gave lectures in vocational training programs and some media organizations. He contributed to the training of many people in subjects such as table d'hôte cooking, cold cuisine, pastry, food preparation and cooking techniques. In his last years, he worked as a consultant in the catering industry.
On April 19, 2012, he died at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack while working at a catering company in the Cevahir Shopping Center in Şişli, Istanbul, where he was a consultant. He was buried in Çayırbaşı Cemetery in Sarıyer.
Ümit Usta is remembered as one of the well-known names in the Turkish culinary world with his on-screen programs and the students he trained.
