DayZ is Bohemia Interactive's multiplayer survival game. You wake up in a post-outbreak country, usually on the coast and with almost nothing. Three things are waiting for you: hunger and thirst, the infected (the game's zombies) and other players. There are no quests, no story and no markers; you decide what to do.
This guide is for players who have just bought the game and keep losing their first characters within minutes. Much of the difficulty comes from an intricate status system: blood, health, shock, energy, water, body temperature and immunity all affect each other. A player who doesn't know the rules can eat a loaf of bread and throw it up, or drink from a pond and get sick.
