Minecraft
Minecraft is Mojang Studios' block-based survival and building sandbox. Fully released in 2011, it is widely cited as the best-selling video game, passing 300 million copies in 2023.
What is Minecraft?
Minecraft is a survival and building game by Sweden's Mojang Studios, set in a procedurally generated, nearly endless world made of blocks. There is no fixed goal: players gather resources, craft tools and build anything they imagine. Markus "Notch" Persson started it; the first public build appeared in 2009, version 1.0 arrived in November 2011, and Microsoft acquired Mojang in 2014.
How to play
- Survival: manage hunger and health, fend off night-time mobs, craft gear and eventually face the Ender Dragon.
- Creative: unlimited blocks and flight for pure building.
- Multiplayer: friends' worlds, Realms subscription servers and community servers.
Redstone works like electrical wiring, letting players build automatic doors, farms and even simple computers.
Platforms and business model
- Editions: Java Edition (Windows, macOS, Linux) and Bedrock Edition (Windows, consoles, mobile), now sold together on PC.
- Platforms: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch; Bedrock supports cross-play.

Turkish language and Türkiye
The interface is available in Turkish, listed on both the Microsoft Store and the Turkish App Store. The game has almost no spoken dialogue. Minecraft has a large Turkish community of servers and content creators, but Mojang has no official Turkey-specific server or publisher.
Why it became so popular
At Minecraft Live 2023 Mojang announced that the game had passed 300 million copies sold. Its open-endedness makes the same world an adventure, a model kit or an engineering lab. Minecraft Education brought it into classrooms, it dominates gaming video content, and the 2025 film A Minecraft Movie carried the blocky world onto the big screen.
