V Rising Beginner's Guide: Leaving the Crypt, Castle Heart, Sunlight and Your First V Blood

1. Leave the crypt and collect bones You start in a crypt. The first Journal quest asks you to get out and collect bones; the wiki says it unlocks the Bone Sword and Bone Ring recipes. Open your inventory with Tab and craft both.
2. Try your first two spells The next quests teach you to hit enemies with Shadowbolt and counter attacks with Blood Rite. Timed well, Blood Rite blocks an incoming hit; practise it on a few enemies to get a feel for the combat rhythm.
3. Stockpile wood and stone After the Boneguard armour set you unlock the bone axe and bone mace. Axes fell trees, maces break stone. According to the wiki, the following quest asks for 300 wood, 300 stone and 50 Blood Essence drained from living things, and rewards the Castle Heart blueprint.
4. Choose your castle site carefully Buildable areas are marked on the map (M). In the starting region, pick a spot near water and resources that isn't on a busy road. On PvP servers, staying away from crowded areas makes the early days easier.
5. Place the Castle Heart Open the build menu with B and place the Castle Heart. The wiki lists a level 1 heart at 30 Blood Essence and 240 stone. The territory it sits on is now yours; connect floor tiles to the heart to expand.
6. Add a coffin, brazier and chest The next quests have you place a Wooden Coffin, a Mist Brazier and a small chest. The coffin is your respawn point, and resting in it stops blood drain. The Mist Brazier burns bones to create shade around it, protecting you from the sun inside your base.
7. Build workstations and raise your Gear Level Build the Sawmill and Simple Workbench and craft better equipment. The wiki says this quest asks you to reach Gear Level 20 and unlocks blood tracking in the V Blood menu when done.
8. Hunt your first V Blood carrier Open the V Blood menu with K, pick a carrier close to your level and track it; a trail appears. Defeat it and drink its blood to unlock new abilities and blueprints. According to the wiki, the next quest asks you to hunt three more carriers and equip a new spell from the Spellbook.

• Your time in the sun is limitedAccording to the community wiki, exposure builds up in sunlight and drops in shade; once it maxes out you take lethal damage within seconds. By day, move along the shadows of trees, buildings and clouds, and treat the brightening screen as a warning.
• Walled rooms get a roofThe wiki notes that areas fully enclosed by stone walls and flooring count as rooms and get a roof automatically. Put your workstations in rooms like that and you can work safely during the day.
• Check the blood before you feedEnemies show their blood type and quality. The wiki says you can feed on living beings below 25 percent health; feeding fills your pool to 10 litres and gives you their blood type. High-quality Worker blood boosts gathering, Brute blood boosts melee.
• Don't starve the Castle HeartAccording to the wiki, the Castle Heart consumes Blood Essence each day, and if it runs out your territory and structures decay and stop working. Top it up before a long break.
• Rest in your coffinResting in a coffin stops blood drain and heals you quickly. Park your character in it while waiting on a long craft or stepping away.
• Careful when carrying silverThe wiki says carrying silver coins and silver ore deals damage over time depending on the amount. Take silver ore straight home after mining it; later you'll find potions and cloaks that grant silver resistance.
• Match the carrier's levelThe V Blood menu shows each carrier's level. Going after a strong one with low Gear Level ends quickly and badly. According to the wiki, carriers drop healing blood orbs at 50 percent health; grab them mid-fight.
• Don't forget servantsWith the Dominate power unlocked later, you can subdue a weakened human and place them in a Servant Coffin. The wiki explains that you send servants on hunts from the Castle Throne, and hunt timers run in real time, even while the game is closed.
• Experiment with spellsV Blood carriers unlock spells from different schools. Open the Spellbook with J and swap spells between slots; trying different combinations against different enemies makes tough fights easier.
• Know your difficulty settingAccording to the wiki, V Blood carriers have less health and deal less damage on Relaxed, and much more on Brutal. If you're hosting your own game, you choose these settings at the start.

• Running across open ground by day: once sun exposure maxes out your character burns within seconds.
• Forgetting to fuel the Castle Heart: territory decays and structures stop working.
• Walking around with poor blood: Frail blood gives no bonus, and a good blood type makes fighting and gathering much easier.
• Taking on a strong carrier with low Gear Level: losing costs both time and blood.
• Doing all the gathering yourself: progress stays slow until servants and workstations are set up.
• Leaving your castle unprotected on a PvP server: wooden coffins and weak walls won't hold against other players.
