How to get and verify a military service status document from e-Devlet in Turkiye

The military service status document asked for in job applications, passport matters and public sector procedures can be obtained online from the Ministry of National Defence service on the e-Devlet portal, without visiting a military recruitment office. Here is which service holds it, how to download it, how the receiving side verifies it by barcode and what to do if your record looks wrong.

How to get and verify a military service status document from e-Devlet in Turkiye

When you apply for a job, sit a public sector exam, deal with travel paperwork or prepare an employment file, you may be asked for a document showing where you stand on military service. Turkish male citizens with a military service obligation can get it through the e-Devlet portal without going to a military recruitment office.

The document is produced with a barcode from the Ministry of National Defence's Askerliğim (My Military Service) service. According to the Ministry's letter to public institutions, the military service status document obtained from e-Devlet has the same legal validity as a signed and stamped one and can also be used in place of a discharge certificate.

The institution you hand it to can check the barcode number and confirm the document is genuine within a few minutes.

🧰 What you need

  • Your Turkish national ID number
  • One of these sign-in methods: e-Devlet password, mobile signature, electronic signature, Turkish ID card or internet banking
  • A phone or computer with an internet connection
  • Somewhere to keep the document as a PDF (phone, computer or cloud storage)

Steps

  1. Prepare a sign-in method The Askerliğim service requires identity verification. The accepted methods are the e-Devlet password, mobile signature, electronic signature, Turkish ID card and internet banking. If you do not have an e-Devlet password, go to a PTT branch in person with your ID to get one; if you use internet banking, you can also sign in through your bank's e-Devlet login.
  2. Sign in to the e-Devlet portal Type turkiye.gov.tr into your browser yourself or open a saved bookmark, then sign in from the top right. Do not click links sent by message or similarly named sites in search results. Once you are signed in, your name appears at the top right of the page.
  3. Open the Askerliğim service Type "Askerlik Durum Belgesi" or "Askerliğim" into the search box. Choose the Millî Savunma Bakanlığı / Askerliğim result; the Askerlik Durum Belgesi Doğrulama service shown in the same list does not issue documents, it only checks existing ones. You can also get there through Kurumlar (Institutions) → Millî Savunma Bakanlığı.
  4. Read your military service details The Askerliğim screen shows your military service details from Ministry of National Defence records, along with the procedures available to you. Check that your status, such as roll call, call-up, deferment, discharge or exemption, matches your actual situation. If something is wrong, the document will carry the same error, so get it corrected first through the route in the last step.
  5. Create the military service status document Find the section for the military service status document within the service and follow the on-screen prompts to create the barcoded document. The document reflects your current status in Ministry of National Defence records. If an information or confirmation step appears, read it and confirm.
  6. Download the document as a PDF Download the document as a PDF or print it. If you downloaded it on a phone, note the folder where it was saved. When you send it to an institution by email, attach the downloaded PDF rather than a screenshot; the barcode and QR code read properly only in the original file.
  7. Give the barcode number to the institution The document carries a barcode number and a QR code. The institution you submit it to uses that number to confirm it was really produced on the e-Devlet portal. If they ask for a wet-signed copy, you can point out that the Ministry has informed public institutions in writing that the e-Devlet document is as valid as a signed and stamped one.
  8. Verify the document The receiving side, or you, can open the Belge Doğrulama (document verification) service on turkiye.gov.tr, which also appears in search as "Askerlik Durum Belgesi Doğrulama". Enter the number from the document in the Barkod Numarası field, fill in any additional information the screen asks for, confirm the notice and view the document on the result screen. No sign-in is needed for this; you can also scan the QR code on the document with the Barkodlu Belge Doğrulama feature of the e-Devlet mobile app.
  9. Contact the recruitment office if your record is wrong If the status on the Askerliğim screen does not match reality, or a procedure you expect, such as a deferment or discharge, has not appeared yet, do not hand in the document as it is. Contact your military recruitment office or the Ministry of National Defence General Directorate of Recruitment and ask for your record to be corrected. Once the record is fixed, the e-Devlet document is produced with the updated information.
