Abdullah Şahin was born on March 12, 1948 in Bursa. His father is an officer and his mother is a teacher. At the same time, as the brother of journalist and writer Haluk Şahin, he grew up in a cultural environment within his family. He turned to the stage with his first theater experience at Bursa Community Center in 1962 and later enrolled in the Istanbul State Conservatory Theater Department.
Here he received training from well-known names such as Yıldız Kenter, Çetin İpekkaya, Altan Karındaş and Haldun Dormen.
At the beginning of his theater career, he met Enver Demirkan and the duo founded a stage duo called "Dokta and Comma". They stepped into the cinema scene in 1979 with the movie "Dokta ile Virgül Paldır Küldür". Afterwards, he starred in films such as “Aşkın Millionaire”, “Awake Fools”, “Don't Make Me Laugh” and “Dot and Virgül Deh Deh Duldul”.
In 1982, together with Demirkan, they founded the "Dot and Comma Theatre"; After Demirkan's departure, Şahin continued to work alone under the name " Nokta Theatre".
In his personal life, he married Nilgün Belgün in 1972 and had a daughter named Oylum in 1973. After their divorce, they married Belgin Şahin in 1982, but they separated from the marriage again in 2012. A son was born from his second marriage in 1993. They were guests with their spouses in the "Songs Tell Us" program broadcast on Kanal D in 2022.
In addition to theater plays, Şahin also took part in a wide range of roles in the cinema and TV series industry. He met the audience in projects such as “Dairy Philosopher Istanbul” (2015), “Deli Aşk” (2017) and “Eksenler” (28 episodes). His career spanning from theater to cinema and from cinema to TV series has earned him a unique place in the Turkish entertainment world.
