Ali Bilgin (director)
Ali Bilgin, who was born in the blue city of the Aegean, Izmir, in the first month of nineteen eighty-one, appears as one of the most remarkable directors of Turkish television and cinema. After graduating from Ege University, Department of Cinema and Television, Bilgin, one of the rare names who managed to be both in front and behind the camera, stepped into his artistic life with both acting and directing.
He started his acting career in 2002 with a role in the TV series En Son Babalar Duyar. However, he showed his real mastery when editing the stories behind the camera. After gaining experience as the second director in productions such as Bayrampaşa: I Will Not Stay Long, Dersimiz: Atatürk and Teacher Kemal, he sat in the director's chair in the leading TV series in the 2010s. Arka Sıradakiler, Al Yazılım, Uçurum, 20 Dakika and Medcezir found a place in his heart.
Bilgin, who also left his mark in the field of cinema, appeared on the screens with the movie Delibal in 2015. Four years later, he met with moviegoers with his movie One Love Two Lives. On television, long-running productions such as Cesur ve Güzel, Ufak Tefek Cinayetler, Kuzgun, Call My Manager and Judgment took over the directorship.
Thanks to these works, he won the Best Director award at the 42nd Golden Butterfly Awards in 2015. Seven years later, in 2022, it was awarded again in the same category at the 48th Golden Butterfly Awards.
The work of Bilgin, who married actress Defne Kayalar in 2014, made a splash not only in the national arena but also in international platforms. While the series Yargı was shown abroad under the name Family Secrets, it won the Best Telenovela category at the 51st International Emmy Awards. According to Daily Sabah, this success was also due to Ali Bilgin as the director of the series.
