History
AS Roma It was founded on a summer day in 1927, at the request of Benito Mussolini, the Fascist dictator of the time, under the chairmanship of Italo Foschi, as a result of the merger of the three biggest clubs of Rome. The purpose of this merger was that Benito Mussolini wanted to put an end to the hegemony of the Northern Italian teams in Italy.
While the club played its home matches at the Montovelodromo Appio Stadium in its first years, it moved to the Campo Testaccio Stadium, which was completed in November 1929. The club's finishing second in the league behind Juventus in the 1930-1931 season is considered the first major success in the club's history. The prominent football players of this period on behalf of AS Roma were the team captain Attilio Ferraris, as well as players such as Guido Masetti, Fulvio Bernardini and Rodolfo Volk.
José Mourinho, who became the coach of the team in 2021, left his position in January 2024. On the same day, it was announced that Daniele De Rossi was appointed as the head of the team.
