Founded in 1964 in the Consolat neighborhood of Marseille, Athlรฉtico Marseille initially started out as a local amateur team. The club, which has been able to rise on the shoulders of the community in the 15th district of Marseille since its establishment, has managed to make a name for itself over the years. While the team was known with its name bearing the traces of the Consolat neighborhood until 2018, it is remembered for its contributions to the culture and football of this region.
Jean-Luc Mingallon has been at the management of the club for many years. Under his leadership, the team achieved promotion from Division d'Honneur in 1999 and stepped into the Championnat National 3, the national amateur league, in 2006. During this period, new Marseille derbies were born in competition with Olympique de Marseille's reserve team and the US Endoume. In 2011, it was promoted to Championnat National 2 and began to be defined as "Marseille's second club".
In 2014, Consolat won the Championnat National 2 championship and was promoted to the Championnat National, the third league of French football. In the 2015-2016 season, while they almost achieved their goal of getting promoted to Ligue 2, they lost their chance by falling behind Amiens SC with only one point. He followed the same dream by coming to Paris FC in the next season.
In 2018, the club changed its identity and changed its name to Athlรฉtico Marseille and opened a different page in this new period.
The team, which finished the league in fifth place in 2019, was relegated one league due to financial problems. Despite leading the 2020 season, which ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was penalized again due to allegations of financial irregularities. However, the club resisted these decisions and, after various objections, eventually gained promotion to the Championnat National 2.
However, this success did not last long; He was demoted one league back again due to the allegation of forged documents.
Finally, in July 2022, he had to officially file for bankruptcy due to financial difficulties caused by his debts in the amateur league, in which he was relegated as a sportsman. In this difficult period, the club, which needs to be restructured in the local amateur leagues in the Provence region, continues to maintain its hopes for the future.
