Barış Bektaş

Barış Bektaş (b. 27 November 1976, Seydişehir, Konya) is a Turkish lawyer and politician. He was the Konya provincial chairman of the Republican People's Party; He entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly as the 28th term CHP Konya deputy in the 2023 general elections.

He studied primary school in Ortakaraören, Seydişehir, and completed secondary and high school at Meram Anatolian High School in Konya. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1999. He has been working as a freelance lawyer registered with the Konya Bar Association since 2002.

political career

His party duties in the CHP started in Selçuklu, one of the central districts of Konya; He served as district president for two terms between 2015 and 2018 and took part in the Charter Commission at the 35th Ordinary Congress of the party. He was elected as Konya provincial chairman at the provincial congress in January 2018. He left this position in December 2022 to become a parliamentary candidate.

He was elected as a member of parliament from Konya in the elections of May 14, 2023 and took office in June 2023. He is a member of the Constitutional Commission in the Parliament. He is among the founding members of the Democratic Lawyers Association and a member of the Kemalist Thought Association.
