Cüneyt Yalaz

Ahmet Cüneyt Yalaz was born on June 16, 1966 in Rize. Yalaz, who started his education life at Eskişehir Anatolian High School, graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of Economics, and then completed his master's degree at the Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Institute of the same university. He completed his academic studies here with the thesis titled "Politicization of Turkish Theater in the 1960s".

Yalaz, who has been devoted to theater since 1984, became one of the founding members of the Boğaziçi Performing Arts Community, which was established in 1995. Since this period, when he stepped into his professional theater life, he took part in approximately thirty different plays as both an actor, director and lighting designer.

The artist, who had the opportunity to appear on stage approximately 750 times, was deemed worthy of three different awards after his play "Who's There? Muhsin Bey's Last Hamlet", which he wrote and staged in 2016.

While Yalaz has been the editor-in-chief of Mimesis Theater Magazine since 1997, he has also been guiding students as a theater instructor at Şişli Terakki High School since 1999. The artist, who has been the coordinator and jury of the Terakki Foundation Youth Theater Festival since 2004, published the work titled "A Handbook for Acting Training - Stanislavski System", which he wrote together with Bülent Sezgin and Özgür Çiçek, in 2006. He directed theater workshops in various provinces between 2004-2009.

Cüneyt Yalaz has won many awards in the field of theater as well as his acting and directing. In 2016, he won awards in both the best actor and best playwright categories for his performance in the play "Who's There? Muhsin Bey's Last Hamlet". He was nominated as the most successful actor of the year at the Afife Theater Awards of the same year.

In 2006, Yalaz was awarded the best new original play director of the year award at the Direklerini Theater Awards.
