Deniz Madanoğlu

Deniz Madanoğlu is a Turkish screenwriter and playwright. He is known for his television series, especially Masumlar Apartmanı, which center on family relationships and the past of the characters.

From journalism to screenplay

He was born on April 30, 1982 in Ankara. After high school, he studied Political Science at Istanbul Bilgi University. He worked as an editor at BirGün and Star newspapers for a while, then turned to writing.

He had his first screenplay experience for television in the TV series Çakıl Taşları in 2010. He was among the writers of the TV series Sen de Gitme and İzmir Çetesi in 2011, and Urfalıyam Ezelden in 2014. He continued his work with This City Will Come Behind You and 2019's A Family Story. Masumlar Apartmanı, which was released in 2020, became his most talked about work; The series attracted wide attention from the audience as it told the story of brothers struggling with mental problems. In the following years, he wrote the TV series Garbage Man (2023) and Abandoned Man (2025).

Theatre

Madanoğlu also writes for the stage. The plays Poz (2014), Medet (2016) and Side Role (2018) bear his signature. His focus on characters' childhoods, growth processes and family balance in both his screen and stage works stands out as a distinctive feature of his writing.
