History
The tower in the middle of the coat of arms of Everton, which was founded in the city of Liverpool in 1878 under the name "St. Domingo Football Club" and was named "Everton Football Club" one year later in November 1879, is located on the street called Netherfield Road, in the area known as Everton Hill (Everton Brow), built in 1787 and known as "Prince Rupert's Tower" or "The Roundhouse", built in the 1800s.
It is a historical tower that was used to imprison people who were not serious criminals who would appear before the judge the next morning in England, the night before the trial. The shapes in the upper right and left parts of the tower are laurel wreaths. These wreaths were later added to the coat of arms to symbolize victories.
While "1878", the club's founding date, is written under the "Everton" text, "Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" written in Latin below means "Nothing but the best is good enough". Although the sentence seems a little low in Turkish, it means "Only the best is good enough." It is the club with the longest stays in the Premier League.
It ranked 5th in the number of trophies won in the Premier League, surpassing teams such as Tottenham and Chelsea in the Big Six. It plays the Merseyside derby with its arch-rival Liverpool FC. Of the 215 matches, Liverpool won 85 and Everton won 66. All 64 matches ended in a draw.
David Moyes replaced coach Sean Dyche at the beginning of 2025.
Everton has said goodbye to Goodison Park as of the 2025-26 season and has now moved to Everton Stadium.
