Futebol Clube de Alverca is a Portuguese football club founded in 1939 as the local team of Alverca do Ribatejo, located northwest of Lisbon. Located within the borders of Vila Franca de Xira, this team has made a name for itself throughout history both in local leagues and in the national arena.
One of the club's brightest periods began with promotion to the Primeira Liga in 1998. Competing at the top level for five seasons, Alverca also served as Benfica's training club until they were relegated in the 2003-04 season. However, the team, which had to suspend its activities in 2005 due to financial difficulties, was reborn in the Regional Leagues of the Lisbon Football Federation and continued on its way in 2006.
Continuing its rise, Alverca returned to the professional leagues in the 2017-18 season and attracted attention with a 2-0 victory against Sporting in the Portuguese Cup in 2019.
The young talent, who struggled with health problems in a short time after the goal scored by Alex Apolinรกrio, who had his name written in the team's goal at that time, passed away a few days after the match. After this difficult period, Alverca was promoted to LigaPro by becoming champion in Liga 3 in the 2024-25 season and qualified for the Primeira Liga again by achieving second place the following year.
In 2025, 70% to 80% of the club's shares were purchased by Vinรญcius Jรบnior and his partners for approximately 8 to 10 million euros.
Focusing on the future both locally and nationally, Alverca continues to be an important part of Portuguese football with its ups and downs in its past.
