Playing on the green fields of Enschede, Netherlands, FC Twente was founded in 1965 by the merger of two well-established clubs, Sportclub Enschede and Enschedese Boys. This combination aimed to gather the city's football heritage under one roof. The club competes in the Eredivisie, the top league of Dutch football.
One of the turning points in the history of FC Twente is the championship that came after a long wait. FC Twente, which broke the long silence that followed the victory of Sportclub Enschede in 1926, with an impressive score of 86 points in the 2009-2010 season, had the pride of becoming the Dutch champion for the first time in its history. This success was written in golden letters in the club's history.
When we look at the list of achievements, we see that FC Twente achieved one championship and three second places in the Eredivisie. In the KNVB Cup, it succeeded in lifting the cup three times and was content with second place in all four finals. The club enjoyed victory twice in the Johan Cruijff Schaal and took second place once. In the UEFA Cup, it succeeded in reaching the final in 1975.
