Hamza Hamzaoฤlu was born in 1970 in Komotini, Greece. He immigrated to Tรผrkiye with his family at the age of 7, during a period of intense political tension. The family started a new life by crossing the Meriรง River with a boat and traveling with a tractor, and settled in Izmir. Establishing and managing a neighborhood team when he was only 14 years old drew him even further into football.
Thanks to this talent, he attracted the attention of Altay club and played in the star team for 4 years. The biggest problem of Hamzaoฤlu, who earned his pocket money by working during this period, was that he had no identity. He could not participate in official matches because he could not obtain a license. This situation changed when his family changed his surname to his father's name, "Hamzaoฤlu", and Hamza finally took the name Hamza Hamzaoฤlu.
Hamzaoฤlu, who was then transferred to ฤฐzmirspor, started his professional football life here. He won the championship in the 3rd League in his first season. Although he was a midfielder, he attracted attention by playing on the left wing of the team. With this performance, รmit participated in the National Team tryouts and managed to gain the favor of Fatih Terim, the coach of that period.
Terim was very impressed by Hamza's performance in a friendly match against Izmirspor and invited him to the national team camp. Hamzaoฤlu, whose contract expired at the end of the season, entered Galatasaray's radar with the guidance of Fatih Terim. However, Izmirspor's high transfer fee request and Fenerbahรงe's involvement prolonged the transfer process.
Hamzaoฤlu, who promised to Galatasaray, decided to wear the yellow-red jersey, taking the risk of playing for one year in the worst case. With the efforts of manager Yurdeลen Karahasan, he was transferred to Galatasaray in 1991.
