History
Hearts was founded in 1874 for football purposes. It takes its name from a dance floor called the Heart of Midlothian Dance Hall. This name is the title of a work by Walter Scott, one of the poets of that period. The team was going to start working after finding its namesake, but there was no field to play on and no equipment to use.
Tom Purdie, the first captain of the team, suggested that the dance floor, from which the team took its name, be used as a field and the equipment warehouse there as a paperwork area. It was accepted and the team started participating in the leagues in 1876.
Jambos has a long and storied history. The best period in their history was 1894 - 1909, with 4 Scottish Cups. During this period, they also managed to remain permanently in the top three of the League. Hearts, who could not win a cup for a long time after this period, broke this fast by winning the league in 1954. He also managed to lift this cup once again from this year to 1963.
However, after these successes, all Scottish teams, including Hearts, experienced a decline as English clubs signed all Scottish stars as a result of the financial explosion. In the mid-seventies, when the federation imposed transfer restrictions, the success rate of these clubs increased again. Hearts then won the league once again and continuously finished third and fourth in the league until 2005.
In 2005, it was eliminated from the UEFA Cup, in which it participated for the third time, by finishing last in the group, but also finished second in the league.

Rivalry with Hibernian
Hearts is one of two clubs founded in Edinburgh and has a derby rivalry with FC Hibernian, the other of the two teams there. The fact that there was no event in history during this competition, known as Edinburgh Derby, should be considered a success for football.
