İnek Şaban

In Rıfat Ilgaz's novel "Hababam Class", there is a character named Şaban Darsübekoğlu, popularly known as "İnek Şaban". When this role was transferred to the cinema, it was played by Kemal Sunal and he quickly became one of the most recognized figures of Turkish cinema. Şaban's adventures were brought to the screen in the independent film of the same name shot in 1978, and Sunal won the love of the audience with his different characters in many of his films titled "Şaban".

Şaban, depicted in the novel, draws attention with his deep blue eyes and slim build; His inability to sleep at night forces him to study. He learns information by memorizing. Once, when his teacher called him to speak, he explained the lesson as if he was reading it from a book and the class said "Dot!" he responds enthusiastically.

He often gets sick, which triggers his diligence; He also has a pure and naive personality. These characteristics are also noticed by the assistant principal, Kel Mahmut, and a tolerant attitude is displayed towards Şaban.

Şaban in the world of cinema is student number 323 of the 6th Literature B class. He is known for his childish speaking style, funny facial expressions and clumsy movements; His friends often nickname him "Nerd". He is mostly exposed to Güdük Necmi's jokes, and he either curses at these jokes or walks in on them. Kel Mahmut once said, "Why haven't you graduated for so long?" The fact that he answers the question "Girls don't leave me" also reveals Şaban's interest in girls and his jokes about it.

Kemal Sunal and Nevra Serezli starred in the 1984 movie "Atla Gel Şaban", and although the name of the movie did not establish a direct connection with the character, it made the audience remember the name Şaban. Sunal explained this confusion with the following words: "Even though we do not use the name 'Şaban' in the movies, there is no missing in the audience's mind; everyone knows Şaban." This statement once again reveals the character's lasting impact on the public.
