Ivan Rakitić

Ivan Rakitić was a football player of Croatian origin, born on 10 March 1988 in Rheinfelden, Switzerland. Rakitić, who started playing football with his father from an early age, took his first steps in the infrastructure of FC Möhlin-Riburg. Then, he joined Basel's academy in 1995 and trained there for many years.

The player, who started his professional career in Basel in 2005, was transferred to Germany's Schalke 04 team for 5 million Euros after winning the "Most Improved Player" award in the league in the two seasons he spent there.

Rakitić, who played 135 matches in his six-year term at Schalke 04 and scored 16 goals and made 29 assists, had disagreements with the club about renewing his contract, in addition to the injuries he suffered from time to time. Afterwards, he went to Spain for 2.5 million Euros and started to wear Sevilla's jersey. Although the adaptation process was difficult when he first stepped into Spain, he took advantage of the team's frequent coaching changes and maximized his performance.

The player, who scored 15 goals and 18 assists in 50 matches, especially during his time as captain, experienced the UEFA Europa League victory with Sevilla in the 2013-14 season and became one of the names that lifted this cup.

Rakitić, who played a total of 147 matches and scored 32 goals over four seasons in Sevilla, signed with Barcelona in 2014. The midfielder, who quickly adapted to the Catalan team, attracted attention with his qualities that could replace Xavi. He made a significant contribution to Barcelona's fight in the Champions League by scoring his first goal against Manchester City.

In his national team career, the player first played in various youth teams of Switzerland, and then was called to the Croatian national team. Rakitić, who served Croatia with 9 goals and 12 assists in 68 national matches, became one of the most important players of his country.

The 2014-15 season, one of the peak points of his career, was full of successes both with Barcelona and the national team.
