Kenan Pars

Kenan Pars, whose real name is Kirkor Cezveciyan, was born on March 10, 1920 in Istanbul. The famous artist, who spent his 88 years of life in this city, was engraved in memories with the roles in which he portrayed harsh-tempered characters, especially in Yeşilçam films of the 1950s and 60s. Pars, who spent part of his youth in this city due to his family's work in Zonguldak, later settled in Bakırköy with his family and lived here until the end of his life.
Pars, who performed his military service in Balıkesir, rarely shared his memories of this period. According to what he said, because he was a non-Muslim, he was given a pickaxe and a shovel instead of a gun and he worked on the construction of the Akhisar-Sındırgı road. During the 84 years he spent in Bakırköy, he not only acted but also directed, produced and wrote scripts.
Pars, who has appeared in hundreds of films since 1953, when he stepped into the cinema, continued his active artistic life until 2003.
The artist's life in Bakırköy was not limited only to cinema. Pars, who preferred to stay in the same neighborhood throughout his life, even had a National Lottery dealer named after him in Bakırköy Freedom Square. Pars, who was also interested in calligraphy and wrote works in verse, attracted attention with the word "Allah" and Qur'anic verses he embroidered with colorful beads at the funeral ceremony held after his death.
In his private life, he had his wife, a Turkish citizen of Armenian origin, and his two daughters, Narin and Linda.
Kenan Pars, who has been on stage for more than 50 years during his cinema career, directed films such as "My Son", "There is No One Who Understands My Trouble", "Cinayet Gecesi", "Death is Allah's Command", "Your Mind Dururs" and "Bir Ateşim Yanarım". In addition to these films, he took part in many productions as both an actor and a screenwriter.
Pars, one of the most important representatives of Turkish cinema's unforgettable villain roles, passed away on March 10, 2008 and was buried in Bakırköy Armenian Cemetery.
