KV Kortrijk is a football team based in Kortrijk, Belgium, known for its red and white colours. The club, which debuted under its current name in 1971, has a history dating back to 1901 and currently competes in the Pro League.
The club, which emerged in 1901 under the name SC Courtraisien, gained strength by merging with FC Courtraisien in 1918 and changed its name to Koninklijke Kortrijk Sport in 1951. A separate club, Stade Kortrijk, was founded in the same city in 1923; The two clubs merged in 1971 and became KV Kortrijk. Due to financial difficulties in 2001, the club went bankrupt and was relegated to the Belgian 3rd League; After taking part in the 2nd League between 2004 and 2008, it was promoted to the Pro League in 2008.
The team came second in the Belgian Cup in the 2011-12 season, and won the championship in the Belgian 2nd League in 1905-06 and 2007-08; It also ranked second in the 1979โ80 and 1997โ98 seasons.
