Throughout its history, the club has competed in La Liga for 32 seasons, in Segunda División for 34 seasons, in Segunda División B for 4 seasons and in Tercera División for 11 seasons. They also won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2002, achieving the first European Cup victory in the club's history. In 2003, it succeeded in reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

In the 2002-03 season, they won the Intertoto Cup by eliminating Gent, Willem II and Villarreal teams. It qualified for the UEFA Cup along with Fulham and Stuttgart, who won the cup that season. By winning the Intertoto Cup, he started the UEFA Cup in the 1st Round in the 2002-03 season. That season, they eliminated Željezničar, KS Amica Wronki, Leeds United and AEK Athens respectively and reached the quarter-finals.
In this round, he beat the Boavista team he was paired with in the first match 1-0, but lost the rematch 1-0. He bid farewell to the cup after being eliminated by his opponent with a result of 4-1 in the penalties.
In the 2012-2013 season, it succeeded in reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. That season, Malaga eliminated Panathinaikos in the play-off round with 2-0 and 0-0 results, and managed to participate in the Champions League groups for the first time in its history. It finished the group undefeated leader with 3 wins and 3 draws. Although they lost the first match 1-0 against Porto in the last 16 rounds, they won the rematch 2-0 and advanced to the next round. History
1904-1933 Establishment
Malaga Football Club played its first match on an old ground on 3 April 1904 in front of a crowd of 3000 people. In 1921, it registered its club identity by succeeding in the Regional Football Federation tournament. Malaga, a coastal city team, continued to regularly participate in tournaments in the coastal region 'Baños del Carmen' after this date.
Some managers of the Malaga football club went to a new structure in 1923 and founded the club called "Malagueño FC", which would be the basis of Malaga CF. The new club played its first match against Espanyol team on Calle Cristo de la Epidemia. Ricardo Zamora, one of the best goalkeepers of all time, took part in this match, and he would also become Malaga's first coach in the First League in the following years.
In 1927, a special match was organized as a thank you to the Austrian Prince and Princess, and after this match, King Louis XIII of Spain was present. Alfonso, they founded a new club called Real Malaga.
By 1929, the city of Malaga had two teams in the National League. Meanwhile, due to the economic crisis, Real Malaga had to move to Segalerva. As a result of the crisis that Malagueño FC club entered in 1930, both clubs stayed away from the tournament for a while.
1933-1992 CD Malacitano and Records
In 1933, Malagueño FC and Malaga Sports Club merged to establish Club Deportivo Malacitano. The Blue-Whites defeated Deportivo Alavés 5-1 in their first match. A year later, CD Malactiano gave land to the club because the field was small and insufficient, and the foundation of La Rosaleda Stadium was laid. In 1934-1935, CD Malacitano achieved promotion to the Segunda División for the first time.
During the football period that was disrupted due to the Spanish civil war, CD Malacitano performed successfully in the Segunda División and Andalusian Tournament. CD Malacitano changed its name for the last time in 1941 and became CD Malaga. In the same year, he made his debut for La Rosaleda against the Ferroviaria de Madrid team in the Generalísimo Cup. CD Malaga played its first official match against Sevilla and won the match 3-2 in front of 8000 people.
Pedro Bazán, who scored 9 goals in a match in 1948, one of the brightest years in the history of CD Malaga, broke a record that will not be easily broken in the history of Malaga. Pedro Bazán, who played in 301 matches in total, wrote his name in golden letters in Malaga history with 266 goals. Pedro Bazán was also recorded as the first football player CD Malaga club brought to the Spanish national team.
In their first year in La Liga, CD Malaga had a brilliant season under the management of Ricardo Zamora, the legendary Spanish goalkeeper of the period.
In 1973, it played in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, the biggest success in the club's history. In 1992, the club could not overcome its financial crisis and was relegated to the Segunda División, while its reserve team, Club Atlético Malagueño, was relegated to the Tercero Division.
1992-1999 Ascension
In 1994, under the chairmanship of Federico Beltrán, the club realized the first joint stock partnership in its history. As a result of the improvements that took place until 1995, the Blue and Whites were promoted to Second Division B. Two years later, Fernando Puche became the president of the club and as a result of the improvements made, the club was promoted to the Fútbol Second Division in the 1997/1998 season.
1999 was a dream season for CD Malaga. As a matter of fact, CD Malaga, led by Joaquín Peirós, was promoted to the Primera División after 10 years. In the same year, Brazilian football player Catanha finished the league with 25 goals and became the top scorer. In the Primera División season, Catanha reached 24 goals and became the top scorer in La Liga in the club's history.
2001-2006 First years in Europe
In the 2000/01 season, Serafín Roldán became the club president by purchasing most of the shares. Qualifying for the UEFA Intertoto Cup in the summer of 2002, CD Malaga won its first European Cup on 27 August 2002 by eliminating Gent (Belgium), Willem II (Netherlands) and Villarreal CF respectively. This went down in history as the club's biggest success in Europe.
The team, which made a big breakthrough in Europe in the 2002/03 season, reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. Here, CD Malaga, which was paired with the Portuguese team Boavista, was eliminated as a result of penalties in the away match that went to extra time. In the same season, Malaga, the reserve team of CD Malaga, was promoted to the B Segunda División.
This situation, which happened in the 2003/2004 season, gave CD Malaga the title of being the only team whose reserve team was in the second league.
2006-2010 Rebirth
In 2006, after seven consecutive years in the First Division, it was relegated to the Second Division. The financial crisis experienced by the club lasted for approximately two years. In June 2008, an exemplary agreement was signed with its creditors for debt management. The club finished second in the Second Division the same year and was promoted to the Primier Division again.
Completing the 2007/08 season in eighth place, CD Malaga finished the league in 17th place, drawing with Real Madrid in the match played at La Rosaleda Stadium on 16 May 2010, and managed to stay in the league amidst the tears of joy of its fans.
2010 – Present
On 25 June 2010, the club put its shares up for sale as a result of financial difficulties. Sheikh Abdullah ben Nasser Al Thani, a Qatari businessman, was announced as the new owner of the club at the general assembly held on July 27. After this date, the club went through a serious renewal. With the agreement signed with UNESCO on 1 June 2011, CD Malaga became UNESCO's ambassador club for peace, equality and sports.
One of the first actions of Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani, who aimed to recruit senior players and discover young talents, was to establish the Malaga Football Academy.
In the 2010/11 season, the famous Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini was appointed as the club's coach. In order to maintain the momentum of CD Malaga, which finished the league in 11th place in the same season, and in line with the targets of success in Europe, players such as Martín Demichelis and Júlio Baptista were added to the team.
The transfers made for the 2011/12 season significantly increased the popularity of CD Malaga. He signed the famous Dutch player Ruud van Nistelrooy and the French midfielder Jérémy Toulalan. He strengthened his squad by acquiring Santi Cazorla from Villarreal for 21 million Euros, the biggest transfer record in the club's history.
The club, which also connected influential players such as Joaquín Sánchez and back Nacho Monreal to the blue and white colors, finished La Liga in fourth place in the 2011/12 season.
He made a big surprise in the 2012/2013 season and succeeded in reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Matched with Borussia Dortmund in this round, CD Malaga said goodbye to the cup by failing to win in both matches.

Andalusian Derby
The derby, known as the Eastern Andalusian Derby, is played between Malaga CF and Granada CF, teams from the same region. They played their first official match in the Tercera División in the 1933-1934 season. The match ended with a 3-1 win for Malaga.
Fan Group (Malaka Hinchas)
Malaka Hinchas is a fan community formed by the coming together of different fan groups in the Malaga region during the 2001-2002 season. The fans, who nicknamed themselves jellyfish, anchovies and argentines, formed a common group in blue and white colors. The group, which is mainly composed of students of Peña Malaguista University and members of the Guiri Army, is attracting an increasing number of supporters.
