Mark Gatiss

Mark Gatiss is a versatile artist born on October 17, 1966 in Sedgefield, England. Gatiss, who we know as an actor, comedian and writer, is most popular in the world of television and cinema. Gatiss, one of the names who made significant contributions to British culture, was not only a member of the comedy team The League Of Gentlemen, but also exhibited both his writing and acting talents in internationally famous TV series such as Doctor Who and Sherlock.

Gatiss's childhood was spent just opposite an Edwardian psychiatric hospital in Sedgefield. From a young age, he developed many different interests, from watching Doctor Who to admiring Hammer horror films, from reading Sherlock Holmes stories to collecting fossils. These interests laid the foundations that would direct his artistic life in the following years.

The process of growing up around the hospital where his father, an engineer, worked played an important role in shaping Gatiss's dream world.

Gatiss, who married Ian Hallard in 2008, whom she met in 1999, has not only human relationships but also animal friends. He pursues his youthful dreams at his home in West London with his dog named Bunsen. So much so that by building a Victorian-style laboratory, he actually brought the world of science and adventure he admired as a child into his home.

Gatiss, who spent a significant part of his artistic life as a member of the team The League of Gentlemen, started performing on stage in 1995 with his friends Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton and Jeremy Dyson. This team gained recognition with the radio program On the Town with the League of Gentlemen, which was adapted for BBC Radio 4.

The program, which started broadcasting on television in 1999, brought Gatiss and his teammates a BAFTA award. The team's cinematic adventure was crowned with the movie The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse, released in 2005.

Mark Gatiss was born on October 17, 1966 in Sedgefield, Durham, England.
