Matt Berry

Matt Berry is an English actor, comedian, writer and musician. He is known for his roles as Douglas Reynholm in The IT Crowd, his creation Toast of London, and the vampire Laszlo Cravensworth in the American series What We Do in the Shadows; His deep and distinctive voice is also sought after in voiceover work.

Matthew Charles Berry was born on May 2, 1974, in the village of Bromham, Bedfordshire, England.

Television

In 2004, he appeared in two cult British comedies: Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, a parody of horror TV series, starring Todd Rivers and his character Dr. He played Lucien Sanchez and Dixon Bainbridge in The Mighty Boosh. He co-created Snuff Box, released in 2006. He gained recognition for his role as corporate boss Douglas Reynholm in The IT Crowd.

He won a BAFTA for best male comedy performance in 2015 for his performance in Toast of London, which he co-created and scored. He reached international audiences with his role as Laszlo Cravensworth in What We Do in the Shadows, which started in 2019.

Music

Berry devotes as much time to music as he does to his acting; He mostly composes the music for his TV series. They release their albums under the Acid Jazz Records label. Heard Noises, released in early 2025, is his eleventh studio album.
