Murat Makar

Murat Makar is an artist born in Germany in 1969. Makar, the eldest of three siblings and the child of an expatriate mining family, completed his education in Bursa after returning to Turkey from Germany. The artist, who graduated from Selçuk University Faculty of Education in Konya, took his first step into theater in 1989 at Konya Anadolu Stage.

Here, he took lessons from names such as Semih Sergen, Turgay Tanülkü and Sinan Pekington, who were working within the State Theaters at that time.

Makar, who took part in various plays at the Konya State Theater until 1993, also turned to radio broadcasting in the mid-1990s. He prepared programs at local stations such as Green Fm and Medya S Radyo in Bursa. In a research conducted by Anadolu Agency in 1996, he was chosen as the most listened to radio programmer in the Southern Marmara region.

In 1997, he presented examples of interactive television by making live broadcasts in the program Sokak Lampası broadcast on Bursa As TV. During the same period, he also took part in night programs on Radyo Tatlıses and Dünya Fm.

Makar, who started to make a name for himself in both television and cinema in the 2000s, became widely known with the program Somebody Watching Us, which was released in 2001. Then, he took part in various television programs such as We All Play Together, which was broadcast on Show TV in 2004. In his cinema career, he starred in the films Kabadayı in 2007 and Made in Europa in 2008.

He shared the Best Actor Award at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival with his performance in the movie Made in Europa.

Makar, who never lost his interest in theater, started his stage life again in 2016 by playing the character of Lennie in the play Of Mice and Men, produced by Istanbul TEMAŞA Theatre. At the same time, he took part in the creative processes of brands such as Turkcell, Muhabbet Kart and Burger King by taking part in their advertisements and organizations. He also hosted festivals, concerts and company events held in various cities for many years.
