Murat Şeker

Murat Şeker, who was born in Istanbul on June 25, 1973, is known in the Turkish cinema world as both a producer and director. Şeker, who also owns his own film company SugarWorkz, started his career at a young age.

Şeker, who started working in a factory with his friends when he was only 17, started his university education at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. However, when his interest in cinema became intense, he transferred to Mimar Sinan University, Department of Cinema and Television. From this period onwards, he worked as a production manager in various TV series and documentary projects since 1992.

During this process, he had the opportunity to work with important names such as Osman Seden, Yusuf Kurçenli and Hüseyin Karakaş. Apart from cinema and production, Şeker, who also made a name for himself in the entertainment industry, managed venues such as Magma and Milk, and also opened popular venues such as Limonlu Bahçe and Mono in Beyoğlu.

Murat Şeker, who took his first step into the cinema with the short film "-1" in 1996, later directed many video clips for the leading names of Turkish rock and pop music. Şeker, who also worked as a music critic during this period, wrote articles on electronic and alternative music in newspapers such as Milliyet, Radikal and Hürriyet Daily News, as well as in magazines such as Max and Roll.

One of the biggest sources of inspiration in Murat Şeker's directorial career was the famous director Andrey Tarkovsky's movie "Stalker". He states that Orson Welles's movie "The Trial", which he watched when he was a child, had a deep impact on him.

Murat Şeker, who last shot "Our Mission is Holiday", which was released in February 2018, continues to produce films under the roof of this company he founded.
