Ahmet Oğuz Çetin, who was born in Sakarya on February 15, 1963, started his football career in the infrastructure of Germany's SSV Bobingen club. After being transferred to Sakaryaspor's youth team in 1978, he signed a professional contract with the club in 1981, played in the A team and won the Turkish Cup in 1988.

In the same year, he moved to Fenerbahçe and was affiliated with the yellow-dark blue colors for 8 years; During this period, he won two Super League championships, a President's Cup and two Prime Minister's Cups. Çetin, who was appointed team captain in the 1991-92 season, left Fenerbahçe at the end of the 1995-96 season with the liquidation decision made by the club president at the time, Ali Şen, without explanation; The fans always supported this decision.

After the team change, Çetin was transferred to İstanbulspor in the 1996-97 season and then to Adanaspor for two years, and ended his active football career during this period. The player, who wore the A jersey 70 times in the national team, was captain 33 times, scored 3 goals and played in three matches in the 1996 European Football Championship.

Çetin, who stepped into the technical staff by being appointed as an assistant coach at Fenerbahçe alongside Mustafa Denizli in the 2000-01 season, soon worked with Werner Lorant and became the club's head coach temporarily after Lorant's departure. Between 2004 and 2005, he coached teams such as Kayseri Erciyesspor, Gençlerbirliği and Diyarbakırspor; In 2005, upon the request of Fatih Terim, he was appointed as the first assistant coach of the Turkish National Team.

After Terim's resignation, he served as interim national team coach for 8 months in 2009, and then continued as an assistant team during the Guus Hiddink period. When Hiddink left his job after failing to make it out of the group stage in the 2012 European Championship qualifiers and the failure in the threshold matches against Croatia, Çetin's contract with the federation was mutually terminated with the arrival of the new coach Abdullah Avcı.

Çetin, who took over the 1st League team Boluspor on 29 November 2012 after his national team experience, resigned in April 2013. In the same year, he served as Mustafa Denizli's assistant after his agreement with the Azerbaijan Premier League team Hazar Lankaran; During the period when Denizli left the team, he took the position of coach.

In 2017, he moved to Gaziantep BB, one of the PTT 1st League teams, and resigned when he could not achieve the results he wanted.
