Oud-Heverlee Leuven, the most well-known football team of Leuven, Belgium, has been playing in the Pro League, the highest level league in the country, since the 2015-16 season. The foundations of the team emerged in 2002 with the merger of K. Stade Leuven, K. Daring Club Leuven and FC Zwarte Duivels Oud-Heverlee. The new team formed jointly by these three clubs brought a new breath to the football of the city of Leuven.
Founded under the name Oud-Heverlee, the roots of the team actually date back to 1957. In 2000, they won the championship in the Promotion Group, where they competed at that time. During the 2001-02 season, they played together with the neighboring team K. Stade Leuven, which was in the same league in those years. During this period, in order to strengthen the football structure of Leuven, the idea of โโmerging three different clubs was adopted and ultimately Oud-Heverlee Leuven emerged.
In the new team's first season, 2002-03, it showed a very successful performance while competing in the Third League and finished the league in second place. However, in the play-off stage V.C. They missed the chance to be promoted to the next league by losing to Eendracht Aalst.
After this unfortunate development, the team ranked third in the same league in 2004. In 2005, it reached second place in the league and managed to win the play-offs and was promoted to the Second League in the 2005-06 season. Oud-Heverlee Leuven, which has consistently been at the higher levels of Belgian football since that year, has left a permanent mark on Leuven's football with its evolution since its establishment.
