Parma Calcio is a football club born in 1913 in Parma, Italy. The colors of the team, which plays its home matches at the Ennio Tardini Stadium with a capacity of 29 thousand 50 spectators, are yellow and dark blue. When the club was founded in 1913, it was named Verdi FC in memory of the famous composer Giuseppe Verdi, upon a proposal that attracted great attention at that time; However, at the end of the same year, its name was changed to Parma Associazione Calcio.
When we look at Parma's history, we see that the team has been going back and forth between Italy's second and third leagues for many years. In 1985, when coach Arrigo Sacchi took over the team, a serious rise began and Parma climbed one step further from the second league to Serie A. With Nevio Scala taking over, the pink-yellow team not only remained in the league, but also became one of the most important teams in the country in a short time.
However, financial difficulties at the end of the 2007-08 season took Parma away from Serie A. The team, which was promoted again from Serie B after two seasons, began to be known as the legendary "football player factory".
The owners of Parma, Tommaso Ghirardi and Rezart Taci, who struggled with major financial problems in the 2014-15 Serie A season, transferred the team to the Slovenian partner Mapi Group for 1 Euro. Following this decision, on February 21, 2015, the Italian Football Federation announced that Parma was relegated to the lower league. On March 19, 2015, the court ruled that the club was bankrupt and Parma was relegated to Serie D, the fourth league.
Parma Calcio 1913 is a team that has gained an important place in the midfield of Italian football. One of the most remarkable periods of Parma, which has made a name for itself with the successes it has achieved both locally and internationally since its establishment, coincides with the second half of the 1990s. During these years, the team stood out both in Serie A and in European tournaments and introduced many young talents to the football world.
Parma's home ground, Ennio Tardini Stadium, has also integrated into the cultural fabric of the city and has a special place in the hearts of football fans.
