What is SS Lazio? Facts and background

Società Sportiva Lazio is a Roman club founded on 9 January 1900 by members of the Italian Army. The symbol of the club, which has blue-white colors, is the eagle, and its nickname is "Biancocelesti". Its arch-rival is AS Roma, and unlike all derbies, the political difference of opinion between these two clubs turns the rivalry into grudges. They play their matches at the Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity of 70,634 people.

The origin of the word "Lazio" is "latium", which means broad in Latin, but the reason why they got this name is that the city of Rome is in the Lazio region, one of the 20 autonomous regions according to the 1948 Constitution of Italy. The club's colors are blue and white. He participated in various sports activities until 1902, and the football branch was established in 1902.

Under the presidency of Sergio Cragnotti, the club experienced its golden age and met stars such as Verón, Crespo, Nesta, Stam, Vieri, Claudio López, Fiore, Negro, Couto, Nedved, Simone Inzaghi, Peruzzi, but then it fell into financial crisis and was sold to an entrepreneur named Claudio Lotito. After the financial crisis, his successes remained within the borders of Italy, and during this period, he took 4 Italian Cups and 4 Italian Super Cups to his museum. While Lazio has won 6 cups in the last 10 years, its biggest rival Roma has not won any cups.
