TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is a football club that was founded in the village of Hoffenheim in Sinsheim in 1899 and rose to the Bundesliga thanks to the German billionaire Dietmar Hopp, who bought the club in 1990 when it was in the 8th league.

History

Hoffenheim is one of the smallest regions in Germany. Originally a village, Hoffenheim is now the district of the city of Zinsheym. The representative of this region, with a total population of three thousand, was founded in 1899. For many years, this club was one of the weakest teams in Germany. "Hoffenheym", whose best performance can be attributed to their promotion to the 6th league, was not a football team that attracted anyone's attention.

In 1989, the situation of "Hoffenheim" got a little worse. So much so that the club was relegated from the 6th league. It was a heavy blow to the fans of the representative of this small region. It was expected that the club, which had already been defeated most of the time, would almost disband. But in the meantime, the miracle happened.

Suddenly, Ditmar Hoppa, a famous billionaire, bought the team. Hoppa approached seriously. The hoppa immediately repaired the club's stadium and first allocated 10 thousand German marks for new balls and exercise equipment. However, solving the players' salaries, infrastructure and other problems gave results in a short time. At the same time "Hoffenheim" was promoted to the 6th league again.

So much so that the club, called "HOPPenheym" by the fans, became the champion in this league as well. After that, the team tried to adapt to the upper league for a while. The club competed in the 5th league for several years in the XX. He tried to keep up with the developments at the end of the century. Competing in the 5th league in the 1999-2000 season, "Hoffenheim" gained the right to compete in the Regional League, which is considered Germany's 3rd league in number, three years later, in the 2002-2003 season.

Hoffenheim, which attracted attention with its performance in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2007-2008 season, was promoted to the Bundesliga in the 2008-2009 season. The club, which made a successful start to its first season and strived for the league championship for a long time, had a hard time with the injury of Vedad Ibišević, who finished first with 18 goals in 17 matches, and finished the season in 7th place with the bad results in the last weeks.
