Ulvi Alacakaptan

Haldun Ulvi Alacakaptan was born on May 4, 1949 in Ankara. Alacakaptan, who made significant contributions to the Turkish art world, took an active part in both theater and cinema for many years.

His father is Prof. Dr. Ercüment Hakkı Alacakaptan and his uncles are Uğur Alacakaptan and Aydın Alacakaptan. He is also known for being the father's brother of the famous artist Muammer Karaca. He continued his education at Istanbul Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, Şişli High School, Department of Business Administration, where he appeared on stage for the first time during his student years.

Alacakaptan, who was elected to the Children's Department of Istanbul Radio in 1960, worked there until 1967 and directed and acted in radio plays during the same period.

He passed the exam of the Dostlar Theater, which he joined in 1969, and received training for two years. During this period, he worked with names such as Mehmet Akan, Macit Koper and Genco Erkal. He took part in many important plays of Dostlar Theater between 1969 and 1978; He worked as an actor, assistant director and dramaturg in productions such as Inquiry, Alpagut Olayı, Abdülcanbaz, Azizname.

He founded Çağrı Sahnesi in 1985 and staged the first play called İbrahim Sadri's Contrary Night Meetings, renaming it People and Clowns.
