Vincent D'Onofrio

He was married to Greta Scacchi between 1991 and 1993, and then married Carin van der Donk in 1997.
Vincent Philip D'Onofrio was born on June 30, 1959 in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York. Raised in different states such as Hawaii, Colorado and Florida, D'Onofrio completed his acting training at the American Stanislavski Theater and the legendary Actors Studio. The actor, who grew up with the discipline of method acting, became known for the physical and psychological transformations he underwent to embody his characters, and this feature earned him the nickname "Human Chameleon" in the industry.
D'Onofrio, who started his career on the theater stage and appeared in Broadway plays, made his first big break in cinema and one of the most memorable performances of his career in Stanley Kubrick's war drama "Full Metal Jacket" (1987). He gained approximately 32 kilos for his role as Private Leonard "Gomer Pyle" Lawrence in the film, breaking the record for the actor who gained the most weight for a role in cinema history, and received high praise from critics for his performance in which he portrayed a soldier losing his mental health.
Throughout the 1990s, he showcased his versatility with films across genres such as "Mystic Pizza" (1988), "JFK" (1991) and "The Player" (1992). He attracted attention with his physical resemblance and voice by portraying Orson Welles in the movie "Ed Wood" (1994), directed by Tim Burton. However, one of the roles that took him to the top of popular culture came with his performance in the sci-fi comedy "Men in Black" (1997).
His exaggerated and highly original body language as Edgar, a farmer possessed by an alien insect, was a key element in the film's success. He once again proved his mastery of dark characters with his role as a serial killer in the movie "The Cell" in 2000.
D'Onofrio, who carried his success in cinema to television, played the character of Detective Robert Goren in the long-running detective series "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", which aired between 2001 and 2011. The character of Goren, who solves criminals with his Sherlock Holmes-style deductions and intense psychological analysis, made him one of the most beloved detectives in television history.
The actor, who remained on the screens for many years with this role, returned to big-budget blockbusters with the role of Vic Hoskins in the movie "Jurassic World" (2015).
He experienced the second spring of his career by joining the Marvel universe. D'Onofrio, who played the character of criminal emperor Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) in the Netflix series "Daredevil" (2015-2018), fascinated the audience with the human depth, fragility and frightening anger he brought to this comic book villain.
This performance was so appreciated that his character was officially included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with the productions of "Hawkeye" (2021), "Echo" (2024) and "Daredevil: Born Again". D'Onofrio, who is also a director as well as an actor, directed the 2019 western film "The Kid".
