Volos (Greek: Βόλος, Ottoman: Golos) is a port city located in the Ancient Magnesia region, one of the oldest settlements in Greece. Volos, which is 327 km away from Athens and 207 km away from Thessaloniki, is the capital of the region. The population of the municipality, which has a surface area of ​​385.6 km², is 144,449 as of 2011.

Mythology

administrative divisions

The present-day Municipality of Volos was established by the 2011 local government reform by merging nine former municipalities. The merged municipalities were transformed into municipal units.
