Mehmet Zeki Sezer was born on April 12, 1957 in Eskiลehir. He completed his chemical engineering education in the relevant department of the institution known at that time as Ankara State Engineering and Architecture Academy (now Gazi University Faculty of Engineering). In addition to his professional life, he is married and has two children.
Sezer, who started his political adventure by joining the Democratic Left Party in 1988, was elected as a member of the party council in 1991. He served as Deputy Chairman of the party between 2001 and 2004. He entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly as an Ankara deputy in the 1999 general elections, and during the 57th government period, he served as the minister responsible for Relations with the Parliament, Religious Affairs, Turkish Hard Coal Institution (TTK) and the general manager of ETฤฐ Holding A.ล., from 9 July 2002 to 18 November 2002.
At the 2004 DSP general assembly, with the support of Bรผlent Ecevit, he received 576 votes and became the party chairman. However, in the 2007 elections, while DSP was in a new left alliance, Sezer did not nominate for parliament. Following the developments within the party, he announced his decision to resign at the press conference on April 8, 2009, stating that although he increased the party votes, he did not find this rate sufficient, and left office on April 11.
In his personal life, he remained married to รlkenur Sezer (who passed away in 2014), whom he met while working at 1011 Main Repair Factory. The couple has two children: Serkan Sezer, born in 1980, and Selcan Sezer, born in 1987.
