Clash of Clans
In Supercell's Clash of Clans you build a village, train troops and raid other players with your clan. Released in 2012, it helped define mobile strategy games.
What is Clash of Clans?
Clash of Clans is a mobile strategy game developed and published by Supercell of Helsinki. It first arrived on iOS in summer 2012 (2 August 2012 per Wikipedia); the Android listing on Google Play dates to 30 September 2013.
How to play
Players build and upgrade a village around the Town Hall, gather resources, train troops and raid other villages. Clans let players donate troops and compete together in clan events and leagues.
Platforms and business model
Available on Android and iOS, and on Windows via Google Play Games. Free to download with in-app purchases of gems and a season pass. Rated PEGI 7 on Google Play (Turkey) and 13+ on the App Store, where it carries an Editors' Choice badge.
Turkish language and Turkey
The App Store lists Turkish, the Google Play Turkey description is in Turkish and Supercell links a Turkish parents' guide. No official information on Turkish voice-over or a Turkish server was found.
Why it became popular
Its timer-based loop suited short, frequent phone sessions, and clans turned it into a group hobby. Its characters went on to build a wider Clash universe across later Supercell games.
