How to Change Your Family Doctor in Turkey: e-Devlet, e-Nabız and the Health Centre

You have moved, you cannot reach your doctor, or you simply want to move to another family health centre. Based on the Ministry of Health's e-Devlet services, e-Nabız and official provincial health directorate statements: how the change is made, what the three-month rule is and why full units are closed to new registrations.

How to Change Your Family Doctor in Turkey: e-Devlet, e-Nabız and the Health Centre

The family doctor is most people's first contact with the health system: prescriptions, referrals, vaccinations, check-ups and reports all start there. Yet after a move, a doctor's departure or a centre that has become too far away, the unit you are registered with stops being useful.

The change no longer requires a trip to the health centre: the Ministry of Health's Aile Hekimi Değiştirme service on e-Devlet and the e-Nabız system both accept it online, while applying in person remains valid. According to provincial health directorates, a doctor you chose yourself cannot be changed again before three months have passed, and units that have reached a registered population of 4,000 are closed to new registrations.

This guide starts with finding out who you are currently registered with, then covers each of the three channels plus the rules for children and newborns, and ends with how to confirm that the change really went through.

🧰 What you need

 • An e-Devlet password, mobile signature, e-signature, Turkish ID card or internet banking login
 • Your Turkish ID (T.C.) number
 • An up-to-date registered address
 • A written request from a parent or guardian for anyone under 18

Steps

 1. Find out which doctor you are registered with Open the Ministry of Health's Aile Hekim Bilgisi Sorgulama service on e-Devlet (type 'aile hekim bilgisi' into the search box at turkiye.gov.tr). The service requires identity verification with an e-Devlet password, mobile signature, e-signature, Turkish ID card or internet banking. Note the unit and doctor shown; you will come back to this same screen to confirm the change.
 2. Make sure your address record is current Family medicine works on a district basis, so if you have moved to a new district or neighbourhood you must have filed your change of residence first. If your address still shows the old one, the system keeps offering units in the old area. Our guide on reporting an address change through e-Devlet covers that step.
 3. Check the three-month rule According to provincial health directorates, a family doctor you chose yourself cannot be changed before three months have passed; the system enforces this. So if you might want to switch back, it pays to get the choice right the first time. For compulsory cases such as moving house, speak to your District Health Directorate.
 4. Check the capacity of the unit you want Family medicine units that have reached a registered population of 4,000 cannot take new registrations, which is why the 'doctor everyone goes to' is often closed. Pick a fallback - another unit in the same family health centre (ASM) or a nearby one - so the process does not stall if your first choice is full.
 5. Make the change on e-Devlet Open the Ministry of Health's Aile Hekimi Değiştirme service at turkiye.gov.tr. The service requires identity verification: e-Devlet password, mobile signature, e-signature, Turkish ID card or internet banking. Once logged in, follow the on-screen instructions to select the family medicine unit you want and confirm your request.
 6. Or go through e-Nabız According to provincial health directorates, the same change can be made through the e-Nabız system. e-Nabız is entered with e-Devlet identity verification, so no separate application or document is needed. If you are doing this from a phone, the e-Nabız app is the practical route; either channel writes to the same registration system.
 7. Apply in person if you cannot do it online You can go to the family doctor you want to move to and fill in the form there, or apply to your District Health Directorate, which will register you with a suitable unit in your area. This is the route for anyone without internet access or an e-Devlet password, or who wants help with the process. Take your ID with you.
 8. Handle children and newborns separately Changing the doctor of a child under 18 requires a written request from a parent or guardian. Newborns are registered to the family medicine unit the mother is registered with, so if you want the baby with a different doctor you must request the change separately. To gather the whole household in one unit, repeat the process for each person.
 9. Confirm the change and book accordingly Afterwards, open Aile Hekim Bilgisi Sorgulama again; the new unit and doctor should appear there. The record may not update instantly, so check again a little later. You can book an appointment with the new doctor through MHRS - our guide on booking hospital appointments via MHRS covers the same system.
