Abdurrahman Palay, who was born on May 7, 1923 in Istanbul, passed away in the same city on April 14, 2002. Palay, one of the unforgettable names of the Turkish stage and silver screen, made a name for himself not only with his acting, but also with his voice acting, directing and screenwriting.
Palay, who started his career as an amateur by being interested in various branches of art, also worked in different fields such as civil servant and football player until 1951, when he turned professional. The artist, who had his first professional stage experience at Saat 6 Theater, then took part in City Theaters upon the invitation of Mahmut Moralฤฑ.
Palay, who also worked in the Istanbul Radio Representation Branch, started acting in front of the camera and doing voice-over work in 1954, after a period he spent at the Oraloฤlu Theatre.
In the later stages of his artistic life, he left his mark on the theater scene by establishing a theater company bearing his name in 1964. Palay, who later took part in the Arena Theatre, became more involved in the world of cinema as a director, screenwriter and actor from 1963 onwards. He even gained experience as a producer in a movie.
Abdurrahman Palay, who spent the last years of his career working as a hostel manager, voiced many famous names and also worked as a voice-over director.
The artist, who brought unforgettable lines such as "no way, no way, no Alev" to Turkish cinema with his unique style, was buried in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
