Ali Fazıl Kasap
Ali Fazıl Kasap is a physician and Turkish politician who specializes in child health and diseases. He has been serving in the Turkish Grand National Assembly as a Kütahya deputy since 2018.
He was born on June 3, 1965 in Şeyhler village of Emet district of Kütahya. After completing his secondary education at Kütahya High School, he graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his compulsory service at Salda Health Center in Yeşilova district of Burdur. He specialized in child health and diseases at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine and worked at Kütahya State Hospital for a while.
He left the public sector in 2006 and worked as Dr. He founded a private surgical medical center together with Ali İhsan Çakır; He returned to public service in 2014.
Political career
He entered politics in the Republican People's Party (CHP). He was a candidate from the top of his party's Kütahya list in the 2015 general elections, but could not be elected. He entered the Parliament as a Kütahya MP in the 2018 general elections and was re-elected in the 2023 elections.
He changed parties twice due to group balances in the Parliament. Following the death of Saadet Party deputy Hasan Bitmez in December 2023, he switched to the Saadet Party to support the protection of that party's group and returned to CHP on January 7, 2025. In August 2026, he resigned from CHP and joined Yeni Yol in order to keep the Yeni Yol group alive, which was about to fall below the group formation limit with the departure of a member of parliament.
