Born in Çanakkale, artist Aliye Uzunatağan opened her eyes to life in the winter of 1951. Although he tried the conservatory path after finishing primary school, he realized that his real passion was the stage and joined the Istanbul City Theaters and appeared before the audience for the first time in 1962. During the years he spent here, he took part in many important works.
Following the acting and coaching training he received abroad, the study he wrote on Anton Chekhov's acting methods deepened his understanding of art. Although he was removed from the theater for political reasons in 1982, he continued to perform in Haldun Dormen's troupe; He returned to City Theaters a year later and continued his contributions in both acting and voice-over fields.
His television career began in the late 1990s; She became widely known with the TV series "Kara Melek", broadcast on Star TV, in which she played the unforgettable character Saliha Sökmen. Later, he took on the role of Sönmez Arslan in "Kızılcık Şerbeti". In the cinema, she voiced Semra Özdamar in the movie "Hababam Kızı Failed in the Class".
Uzunatağan, who also devoted himself to children's theater, pioneered the staging of the musical "Biscuit Man".
He was one of the founding members of Müjdat Gezen Art Center in 1991 and organized seminars and workshops in many institutions in various regions of Turkey and even in Northern Cyprus. He taught at Trakya, Marmara, Istanbul, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts, Maltepe, Kadir Has, Işık and Bilgi universities for many years. He served as Deputy General Art Director at Istanbul City Theaters between 1994-1996 and in 2011; During the same period, he served as the secretary of the International Mediterranean Theater Institute.
Uzunatağan, who also works as a voice-over and presenter in addition to his artistic career, hosted the television program "Confrontation". The artist, who is also known as her daughter's mother, now works with children at Positive Ivme Education and Talent Development Center and guides them through drama and identity development.
