Attila Olgaç was born on July 28, 1944 in Ankara. His father was Kahraman Olgaç, the first president of the Turkish Chess Federation. After graduating from Ankara State Conservatory, Department of Theatre, he did his military service in Ankara with the rank of second lieutenant and was dispatched to the second phase of the Cyprus Peace Operation on 11 August 1974, four days before the start of the operation. During this period, he was the only artist to receive the title of "Gazi".

His step into the art world began with presenting a competition program on TRT in 1989. Later, he attracted the attention of a wide audience by portraying the character of Ali Kılıç Yağızgil in "Kurtlar Vadisi", one of the popular TV series.

The statement he made in 2009 on the "What's Going On There" program, "I killed ten Greeks," caused great repercussions. His words were met with a harsh reaction, especially by the Greek community, and an investigation was launched by the Bakırköy Public Prosecutor's Office. Olgaç later stated that his statements were intended as a joke and withdrew his words.

Hilmi Özen, the Director of the Cyprus State Theaters at the time, announced that Olgaç stayed on the island for 20 days, was not given a weapon, and was assigned to another place on his own initiative.
