Osman Aydın Tolan (1937–10 September 1997) was born in Rize's Çayeli district and is an artist who left his mark on the stage and screen world until the end of his life in Istanbul. After graduating from Istanbul Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences, he started his theater career at Dostlar Theater and took the stage in the play "403.
Kilometer" with Genco Erkal. In the 1980s, he served as the director of the Hodri Meydan Cultural Center, located in the left paradise of Istanbul, and carried out many stage projects during this period.
Tolan, who has gained a solid place for himself in the television world, has entered the audience's memory with his role as the neighborhood headman in Yılmaz Erdoğan's first series and TRT production "Umut Taxi". He joined the cast of Beşiktaş Cultural Center in 1994 and after years of theater performances, he became famous throughout Turkey with the character "Laz Bakkal" he played in the TV series "Bir Demet Theater". This character is among the most recognizable and beloved roles of his television career.
In addition to his acting, his contributions to stage art continued with theater plays such as "Nema Bank", "Otogargara" and "Bir Demet Tiyatro". In the world of cinema, he took part in productions such as "Firefly" (1987), "The Heart is a Strange Bird" (1989), "Mr. President" (1990), "Umut Taxi" (1993), "Return to Ağrı" (1993) and "Bir Demet Tiyatro" (1997).
