Ayşegül Cengiz

Ayşegül Cengiz was born on December 10, 1974 in Alanya district of Antalya. Cengiz, a name who has accomplished important works both in the field of medicine and the world of art, graduated from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1999. Following his graduation, he specialized in Family Medicine in 2004. Cengiz, who was also in touch with art during his medical education, took an active part in the Istanbul Medical Faculty Theater Group for six years and took part in various plays.

Cengiz, who continued his interest in theater during his education years, attended acting trainings with the troupe of French actor and director Amedee Bricolo between 1995 and 1999. In the same years, he took part as an actor in many projects of the group. In 1999, he had his first directing experience in the field of children's plays by staging the play "School of Clowns".

He received both acting and art training between 2004 and 2006 at Studio Players, founded by Şahika Tekand. During this period, he worked as both assistant director and actor in the play "Evridike's Scream", written and directed by Şahika Tekand. In 2008, he reinterpreted Beckett's "Not I" under the name "No Me" and staged it within the scope of Studio Players Young Projects.

In 2012, he served as assistant director in Şahika Tekand's version of Beckett's "Play", which was performed at Istanbul City Theatres. In 2014, he took part in the play "Gergedanlaş2.014", written and directed by Tekand, as both assistant director and actor. In the same year, he took part as a guest actor in a different version of Şahika Tekand's work called "Play".

Continuing his artistic life within Studio Players, Cengiz's work in the field of theater also reveals his interest in modern and contemporary plays.

It is known that Ayşegül Cengiz is also involved in various projects in the world of cinema and TV series, apart from theatre. However, the artist, who is mostly known for his work in the field of theater, also has important stops in his filmography.
