Cüneyt Türel, one of the popular names in the Turkish theater and voice-over world, was born on October 26, 1942 in Istanbul. Türel, who stepped into artistic life at a young age, turned his passion for theater into a professional career after graduating from Istanbul Boys' High School in 1959. His theater adventure, which he started as an amateur in Green Crescent's "Yeşil Sahne" branch during his high school years, enabled him to have his first stage experience with his role in Moliere's play "Zor Nikah".
Then, he joined the Istanbul University Turkish Student Union Youth Theater and performed at various festivals both at home and abroad.
While continuing his university education at Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Sociology, Türel remained committed to theater and started acting professionally at the Gülriz Sururi - Engin Cezzar Theater in 1963. During this period, he took part in various communities, staged plays and achieved significant success.
In particular, he made his professional debut with the character of Romanof in Peter Ustinov's play "General Matchmaker". Then, he took part in the plays of master names such as Bernard Shaw and Sartre at Lale Oraloğlu Theatre.
Cüneyt Türel, who joined the Istanbul City Theater staff in 1965, worked there for many years as both an actor and director. In addition to theatre, he also took an active role in cinema, television and dubbing. Türel, who voiced Turkish actors such as Tarık Akan and Ediz Hun as well as foreign stars such as Kevin Costner and Michael Forest, was also remembered in the advertising world as the voice of brands such as Turkcell, OYAK Renault and Opel.
The artist, who was among the founders of Aksanat Production Theater in 1995, also took an active part in this community. Cüneyt Türel, who was deemed worthy of many awards in his acting and directing career, passed away on May 1, 2012.
