Gülizar Irmak

Gülizar Irmak is a Turkish actress, screenwriter and writer who came from the theater stage and has made a name for herself with her television scripts in recent years. The audience recognized her for her role as Sevil in Aşk-ı Memnu; He took part behind the scenes and as a writer in TV series such as Bana Now Hicran Call, Çoban Yıldızı, Ömer and Uzak Şehir.

He was born in Izmir in 1963. He graduated from the acting department of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts in 1985 and entered the State Theaters in the same year. He worked as both an actor and director on stages in Ankara, Diyarbakır and Istanbul.

From theater to script

He started his writing experiments with children's plays. Curcuna in Hoşhoş Mahallesi, which he wrote in 1990, received the commendable award from Çankaya Municipality. He started acting on television with Aşk-ı Memnu in 2008–2009; Then, while playing Selma in the TV series Söyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki, she also took part in the script team of the production and contributed to the story development. In 2019, he appeared as an actor once again in the TV series Kurşun.

The first TV series script he undertook on his own was Tell Me Now Hicran, which was published in 2014. In 2017, he wrote the story and script of Çoban Yıldızı. Ömer, which started on Star TV in 2023, was an adaptation of the Israeli production Shtisel; Irmak brought this series to Türkiye with his teammates. Far City, which started on Kanal D in November 2024, was also written by him. In 2024, his first novel, Obstacle Run, was published by Missing Piece Publications.
