Gülsüm Kamu was born in Trabzon on 13 August 1944, originally named Emine Gülsüm Kefeli. Gülsüm, who started her artistic career under the name she took from her mother's uncle, poet Kemalettin Kamu, laid the foundations under the guidance of her neighbor and famous theater artist Yıldız Kenter. He appeared on the Ses Theater stage in 1964, playing the leading role in the play "Nalınlar", and then worked with the Kenter family for nearly four years.
After this period, Kamu joined Gülriz Sururi's team and also took the stage at Ankara Meydan Stage. The encouraging advice of Tülay German's husband Erdem Buri was effective in her turning to singing; In 1967, he recorded a record called "I Saw Aliyi / Frequent Mother-in-Law Disini". While he took part in scenes as a voice actor for nine years, he also took part in cinema and TV series projects.
In her personal life, she married Iranian actor Cihangir Gaffari, but this marriage was short-lived and after returning to Turkey, she founded the "Public Theater" under her own name. He moved away from the theater for a while and took up a different profession, such as tailoring, and later returned to the Kent Actors community. She had a short marriage with Müşfik Kenter and stepped onto the stage again in 2005.
Gülsüm Kamu was born on August 13, 1943 in Trabzon, Türkiye.
