İzzet İskender Timur Türsen, who was born in Izmir in 1962, is a versatile artist known for his deep interest in music, as well as being a doctor with medical training. At an early age, he was introduced to the guitar, a gift from his father, and began to open the doors of music thanks to this instrument. After graduating from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in the same period, he continued to practice medicine and continued his passion for music at a professional level.
He took his first steps in his musical career with the Tual group, which was founded in the early 1980s and attracted attention in a short time. While he played both guitar and bass guitar here, he also won the appreciation of the audience with his vocal performance. The songs he wrote and composed during this period, such as "Pencere", "Tiryakinim", "Again Months Kasım", "Diririyorum", "Ulan" and "Karanfiller", proved that he was not only a band member, but also a talented composer and songwriter.
Türsen's compositions were performed by different artists and reached large audiences through these collaborations. Many names, from Rafet El Roman to Evren Mevlanaoğlu, from Ayten Alpman to Hülya Avşar, have included songs written by him such as "Hanımeli", "Olmayan Bir Tanem", "Yanarım", "Umut", "Gönül" and "Karanfiller" in their repertoire.
His interpretation of Hülya Avşar's song "Tiryakinim" in 2009 was one of the unforgettable examples of these collaborations.
Türsen, who parted ways in 2007 due to musical differences in the band Tual, signed a new project with drummer Göksel Öncan and guitarist Ertuğrul Thursday and continued his artistic life under the name "Grup Tual". The artist, who also took part as a soloist in this formation, composed the song "Happiness is in Action", which was performed in schools in Izmir in 2012, in order to draw attention to the issue of obesity.
In 2018, Koray Avcı brought a new breath to this legendary song by reinterpreting the song "Again Months Kasım" in his album "Senin For Değer".
Following the four-track album titled "Lights of the Sakin Şehir", published by Grup Tual in 2019, the single titled "Nafile" was released by him again in 2020. In his private life, Türsen is married and has a child.
